Audience Profiling
I have been researching Indie and rock bands for my magazine I have found out that a lot of the audience that follow the indie/ rock music and fashion in the older generation are much more interested in buying the magazines. The younger teen and young adult does not tend to buy these magazines as they use the internet and are very involved in following the style and learning to play the music. To increase my audience, i must advertise the magazines in music shops and shops like HMV.
In my research I found that my genre of magazine will sell more to the male gender, as majority of women would rather read a more feminine gossipy magazine, for example Heat or OK, even if they do like indie and rock. If I distributed my magazine to supermarkets like Tesco, Asda and Sainsbury’s, it might increase female readers and broaden my audience.
If I put posters and EP’s in my magazine it will give me a great USP, as the audience gets free stuff on their favourite bands this will also give them a feeling of empathy and attachment to the magazine.
In my research I can get a good idea of how much my magazine will be to buy, majority of the people that filled in the survey said they would spend roughly £3.00 on a good magazine, this is good as it is close to the price of £3.50 which near to £3.00.
